James recruited his longtime friend and saxophonist Ravi Coltrane, bass clarinetist and alto saxophonist Oscar Noriega, and recent collaborator and trumpeter Stephanie Richards to join the band along with bassist Dezron Douglas and drummer Tom Rainey to record PURE HEART at the Samurai Hotel in New York City. This is James Carney's 8th album as a band leader.
